My New ride; checkmate convinsor 259

Changed the tire valve on one tyre. It was slowly deflating in a week time.

Its at the mercruiser dealer now for a regular maintaince job and to handle the gear switch. Still got a heat problem; so they are checking the impeller and thermostaat. They will switch the steering wheel also.

Would you guys run for a weekend on salt?
I am thinking of doing the UK run with the convinsor.
Its still a thinking about. Across north sea to the east coast of the UK.
I like the idea of sleeping on the boat. It could be rough. But there are also 23 ft boats doing the run so the length isnt the issue.
I have the rib but it will be heavy on fuel; crew and camp stuff.
The rib is absolute a heavy storm one. The convinsor is questionalble in heavy weather. I might put a second waterpump in it.

Still in doubt. The run is in August so still got time to think about it. 245km (160miles of sea, doing the run with 20 boats.)

This is the place where the UK boaters have a run and we are also invited.

Going from Rotterdam (left bottom of Holland by the rivers on the map to the pinpoint) to woodbridge

I know its 259, I just thought seeing what numbers that were on your gauges, 54 mph at 4600 it might be a small block?

Its a 310hp. I like it bc i doing overhere long runs with it so its fuel efficiënt
Together with the 100 gallon tank i dont have to refill again on a trip.

Hey senator, are your gas prices dropping like here in the states?
We're not quite as fortunate as others at $2.38 gal but a lot of states under 2 bucks a gallon

They are dropped. Very quickly. I refilled the trucks with diesel at a 1.05 euro a liter today. So; calculations tell me that its a 4,31 dollar a gallon. Gas did drop also so it should be in a 6,32 dollar a gallon range.

The goverment is complaining about decrease in tax value on gas and diesel nationwide. They are thinking how to fill this gap in the budget for 2016.

Do it.
The cost of having those cleaning guys tidy it up and wipe the salt off after you return will be worth it for the experience!

Don't ask the 'fair weather' folk around here about a North Sea trip!!! :rof:
Heck - I might have to look into flights! :sssh:

I was thinking the same thing!!! I would love to make that trip. It would probably be pricey, but you could even look into a closed cooling setup for your boat before the trip. That way you are keeping the salt water out of your motor. Also, with that engine and 100 gallon tank, you should be more than fine as far as range goes. My 253 had the same motor only carb'd and on a normal weekend at Cumberland I would run 120-140 miles and only burn 35-45 gallons depending on how hard I ran.

You are welcome👍

Been to the dealer today; he didnt finish the job. So monday back at his shop. Bought Mooring lines in Color black and new fenders. There was not any in the sale.

Its my first choice now. Still a long time to go so we see what how and where.
The idea of going into a tent in the wet UK weather is not attracting me right now.
They said the boats have to have twice the gallons of fuel on board as needed.
The bumpy ride in a 18ft rib is also less attracting to me.
Start from sweet water to keep the trailer clean from salt is also my idea

I like to be the first in a check to do it...

Its not going to be the convinsor to the UK. I saw pics and i dont want my good boat in to that swamp mud river. If it was London than you have a normal marina but this is like you see on FB all the jet boats in to a land with extreme power doing a race.
