pull the trigger, get that big block!
"Soul-mate"
Good name for the boat.
pull the trigger, get that big block!
I know its 259, I just thought seeing what numbers that were on your gauges, 54 mph at 4600 it might be a small block?
Would you guys run for a weekend on salt?
I am thinking of doing the UK run with the convinsor.
Its still a thinking about. Across north sea to the east coast of the UK.
I like the idea of sleeping on the boat. It could be rough. But there are also 23 ft boats doing the run so the length isnt the issue.
I have the rib but it will be heavy on fuel; crew and camp stuff.
The rib is absolute a heavy storm one. The convinsor is questionalble in heavy weather. I might put a second waterpump in it.
Still in doubt. The run is in August so still got time to think about it. 245km (160miles of sea, doing the run with 20 boats.)
Do it.
The cost of having those cleaning guys tidy it up and wipe the salt off after you return will be worth it for the experience!
Don't ask the 'fair weather' folk around here about a North Sea trip!!!
Heck - I might have to look into flights!
I was thinking the same thing!!! I would love to make that trip. It would probably be pricey, but you could even look into a closed cooling setup for your boat before the trip. That way you are keeping the salt water out of your motor. Also, with that engine and 100 gallon tank, you should be more than fine as far as range goes. My 253 had the same motor only carb'd and on a normal weekend at Cumberland I would run 120-140 miles and only burn 35-45 gallons depending on how hard I ran.
