Great job on what you've done. Where abouts in Cincy are you located? Do you have anyone you can recommend for working on outboards that's reasonable in price? Again, great looking boat!!!

Thanks. I am on the west side of cincy in Colerain Twp. My neighbor ownes tradewinds marina in Aurora IN. He is reasonable and fair on his prices. Give Bill a call and tell him I told you about him.

Had to hack off the engine plug tonight. It was very coroded and I tried to clean it up but it just would not make good contact. With that out of the way, the oil pressure gauge is at 80 psi till it has pressure. I checked the old one it it works the way it should. Nothing like getting wrong/junk parts! Other than that, I did nothing today on it. It was hotter and more humid than hell here today. I am going to try this weekend to get a hour of run time on it with the garden hose if all goes well.

Don't get frustrated...

The stage that you are in is supposed to be the "fun part".

Good luck with the start up! Let us know how it goes.:bigthumb::popcorn:

If this is the "fun part" then I need to burn her down to the ground:yell:

Let me tell you about "Brian's Law"

I shall share in the fun with all
This is what happens when some dumb fuk(me) parks the boat on unlevel ground with 3/4 tank of gas. Out the overflow and somehow eatting paint off the boat and trailer as it goes down to kill my grass. Looks alot better in the pic. Lucky it did not do much damage to the top half other than turn the white to yellow. Plus side is I had overspray from doing the checkmate that I did not see till after I cleared it so that will be fixed.

Gauges all working (except trim due to tp and tl switches). Notice the 0.0 on the hour meter:D. Still have a small short somewhere as the ignition wire get slowly hot to the point you cant touch it. However, it dont blow the fuse. I will have to do more searching. I also got the horn button wired up and working in the steering wheel:thumb:Down side the horns sould like something from a honda:sick:

Still got some cleaning up of the wiring harness and plug wires, get the breathers installed into the valve covers, remove the plug bracket, wire the battery switch.

The lower exhaust elbow is cracked(didnt notice till I went to tighten down the hose clamps) so I had to remove them. I welded them up for a temporary fix till I run the 4" stainless.

And this is "Brian's law:thumb:"

have you thought about what carb you will run with the new motor?
I love the 650 holley "DP" on mine(both power valves removed and plugged) huge performance increase over the quadrajet

I was going to run a edelbrock 600cfm for now. Hopefully its a big enough carb. Never that big of a fan of holley carbs. Everyone I have had needed tweeking every so often where as every edelbrock I have had ran great out of the box for years. I might upgrade in the next year or two to a fuel injection system but for now, its out of the price range.

None of that sounds fun...

I don't know why I used that stupid cliché.

People tell me too enjoy the ball busting hard work that I put into things all the time, and my response is "I will enjoy it when it is done"!

What can go wrong, WILL go wrong!

Sorry about the paint....that one hurt me and it ain't even my boat.

Keep plugging along!

remember that an edelbrock\carter afb is a vac secondary carb. Sneaky Pete and I both found edelbrocks to restrict power severely.

On the Holley issue of tinkering, I think removing the power valves fixes most of this. the reccomendation is to raise primary jets 4 steps when plugging. Mine can sit for weeks, pump the gas twice first time and it starts within 3/4 turn of the flywheel. It will start that fast all day long and Idle for hours. exhaust increased in pitch by 3fold when I took the 625 competition series afb off.

LOL So you know my law also! LOL
I have to agree with the fact it is the fun part. Seeing everything go together almost makes it worth the investment.

I will agree with the fact holley makes more power. Always have. To be honest, I am a carb retard so bolting it on and going is the way for me. Plus I am wanting to upgrade to fuel injection in the next year. I dont know, you have given me some food for thought.

I know your law all to well ~ What ever can go wrong will go wrong -- Law by Murphy , I can plan to live by that one.
< central air is out and it's 80 in the house and I love it :)

WTF? I turned my A/C on last week and the compressor is locked up. You would think stuff would last more than 37 years:mad:. LOL

WTF IS THIS????? A SEA SICK MATE?????

damn tach is doing some weird crap

And the motor got motion sickness and started spewing its insides out

Yeah buddy, that sounds pretty damn healthy!!! I'll agree with you on the Holley vs Edelbrock, for what ever little bit of performance you might give up with the Edy, you'll gain a ton of reliability. I had a couple Holley's on one of my steet engines (Mopars) and had plenty of trouble with them, but not with Edelbrocks. Comin along good man, gettin closer!! :bigthumb:

Brian do what us southerners would do, use a milk crate for a drivers seat until the interior is done.:D Great job!!!:thumb:

Better yet...do what i did when the crappy glass job from the previous owner on my seat mount came loose....get a cooler full of beer and sit on that...hell i even had a cupholder right between my legs!!
BTW this is one of my favorite threads and as a fellow enchanter owner i can truely say this boat is gonna be awsome!!
