Looking Good :)

Got the carpet installed yesterday and also finished the electrical.

It turned out 100% better than the first time. That carpet can really stretch and bend into place with a lil help. No wrinkles and damn near perfect install:cheers:

I did not glue in the carpet into the ski locker as it will make it easy to clean. I still need to trim it down a little bit to get the wrinkels out of it. I might glue it in but I will get it trimed and see how it looks.

Erik also finished the electrical last night. I made the switch panel and polished it all up. One problem is that the hour meter is now reading 7700 hours. LOL i put alot of hours on in the last 2 days with the help of a space time continuum:banana:So it seems like she is fast, at least 88mph!

Went for a lake shake down today. Ran good. Has 1 oil leak on the intake manifold, maybe the valve cover leaking down. Performed well but needs a new carb. It accelerates pretty hard from 1500-4000rpm. I did not take it any more than that as its still not broke in all the way yet.
My buddy Evan.

Also Chris stoped by with the embrordered stuff for approval. There is a couple small imperfections in the "checkmate" but nothing that can be seen without looking real hard at it for a while.

35-40mph , that way I am not disapointed:o. GPS of course;)

Got the oil leak fixed. Some dumb a$$ forgot to tighten the distributor down all the way:brickwall:. Going to try to get a few more hours on it this weekend if I can get the oil cleaned up.

wow you did a super job.... I just went and bought some supplies so I can build a pad on the 1975 trimate hull ~ Good God Glass Resin is 55.95$ a gallon~ as of today here in town and that's with me being good friends with the store owner and getting 15% off.. :(

I love how your boat looks in the water too ~ Awesome~

Try home depot. $35.95 a gallon (was $22 a gallon when I started the boat a year ago)

I will check there ~ never thought~ of looking there, I know when I get to building boats with this mold I will have to check and find it 5 gallons at a time. Thanks a lot

Blew the motor up today during the final stage of break in. Will have more info on it tomorrow. Looks like maybe the intake manifold gasket failure??? intern pumping water into the engine:pissed: With any luck, I can get my engine builder to slap it back together before the end of the week. I wanted to pull it this winter and install the stroker crank, aluminum manifolds/SS risers, and fuel injection but damn it to hell. Cant I ever get a damn break in life?

Checkmatefever, to answer your question on speed, gps recall showed 74mph. I know I was flying but did not pay attention to the speed till I got back to the marina. I thought I deleted the speed the proper way but dont quote me till I get it on smooth water and have the chance take a look while underway. I just am not sure its possable to get those speed numbers with a 23p stainless and a 1.47 ratio outdrive:confused:. If it is true, then I am very happy with that speed. I do know 48mph gps@ 2700+- rpm. I also know delta propeller said there has been major reworking on the prop and they would not touch it to repair the tip of one blade since it has been reworked. They recomended a 26p 3 blade or a 24p 4blade for the boat and keep my prop as a spare since its not that bad. New to the prop selection so I prob dont know what the hell I am talking about:eyecrazy:

No I was not turning that many rpm's unless the gauge was wrong. I will have to get better testing after the new motor goes in. I do know the gps said 48 and the calculator is saying thats all wrong also. Maybe the tach is messed up also??

Got a temp motor today, will be back in sporting a mind blowing 260hp:(. Hope she can get up on plane;). Anyway got the rub rail and insert in yesterday. White on both. I wanted the stainless but with the other cost I just could not justify $900 vs the $350 for the white. Now the motor blew I am real glad I went with the white. It turns out the damage came from a screw in the bottom of the carb that somehow either broke or backed out. I have never touched the carb and it is the original. Now why after 23 years it suddenly backs out and goes for a destructive walk.

I did buy a new carb today also. I went with a 750cfm edelbrock. Holleys make more power I know, but there is something about the edelbrock that is user friendly. I also ordered a new 400 crank for the 1 piece rear main enginefor a final displacement of 383ci. The block is going to be resleved, and new pistons will be installed.

I dropped the heads off to be checked for bent valves and other damage, but depending on the total cost of the short block, I might run aluminum heads with aluminum exhaust manifolds. Still dont know if there would be any problems with that combo.

I am so sick of working on this boat and I am in so much pain with the back that I dont even know if I will be able to enjoy it. If nothing else, its going to be a floating bar where I can pass out if need be in the cubby.
:cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers:

Hang in there, you'll be forever grateful when you get done with this thing and you're cruising around with no problems in sight.

That sucks in regards to your motor.

I do hope your back feels better and the gratification of completing your boat project is right around the corner.
