Haven't heard sould like that since my old Corvette days. Kinda sends
a chill down my spine. Great job Brian. Clean application. Now you just have to have a good brace for the ole back and you are set for FUN.

Sounds Bad azz Brian glad it came together, I can't wait for the final dial in results it should be impressive, sounds like a 29 pitch is in order and If you can pull it 5700 you will be doing
80.

Got the engine hatch on today. Had to cut for both the headers and the air filter. I got that motor even in there. Same amount of shims on each side. Headers are the same height to the deck. Lines up good with the tool but way off center somehow:brickwall: I am going to have a scoop that covers the air filter and the hatch will be changed around a lot. I will also not be running the pads on it either. Still unsure if I want to cover the headers or let em hang out to be seen!

Completed pic of the sternjack. I will still do some work on the trim cyl mounts but it works as is

Also got the swim platform sanded and re oiled where I cut bars out.

I am impressed with how close you got the cut outs? I am sure you used a roto zip or similar tool but how did you get it so close?
The exhaust, I made a masking tape template across the entire engine hatch going off the body line for refrence. Pealed it off and stuck it to the hatch to cut it out. I then put the hatch back on and with the air cleaner stud in the carb, I closed the hatch with me in there and marked it from the underside. Pulled it off, drilled the hole and used the lid as a pattern!

You've placed new hope and interest for me to restore and dump money into my enchanter. Can't wait to here what kind of numbers your getting on the water. Really nice job. Like to see how the land and sea works out and what it does to the overall performance of the boat.

Well I thought I had the oil leak fixed.....fail

Got the glass work done, fixed reverse, cleaned the interior and took it out for a bit tonight.

I picked up a 29p tempest plus. Overall I hate the prop. It did spin it to 5100rpm and only 71 mph. That's about .24 slip. Maybe if I rhino line it I will get some negative slip and big speed numbers! Was very unhappy with the handling of the boat with this prop. As much as I hate spinning high rpm's the engine loves spinning fast. I am so lost in the prop area, don't know where to go with it. I am now thinking a 27p?? or might even do some more testing with the 26 turbo??

Also after a 10 mile run, the outdrive shift was binding. It would not come out of forward unless it wanted to. Not sure what is going on there but I need to find out.

SO tomorrow, fix oil leak, clean bilge, swap prop, fix outdrive, clean boat, Get spinal injection for back pain.

That does sound pretty mean.. I like it! That rooster tail is pretty sick, too.

I really can't wait till you get that dialed in and we can run the 21s some!!! Sorry to hear about how badly that tempest plus handles... I was really looking foreward to trying out my 29 I have sitting in my attic on the 21. I'm betting that I'll have a similar expierence with it... we'll see.

I'll bring my 27Mirage and 27mirage plus along to cumberland incase you feel like giving them a whirl. I won't be running either on the 24... just the 25p- so see how they do for ya...

Hope you can get the bugs worked out this week.

In all honesty, don't think we are in the same bracket. Tho I love poking some jokes at you, I really don't think I will see them kind of numbers till I get a different boat with BBC/bravo.

Maybe I will just load up and take it to MK Hammer and have him work his magic on it. Everything he has done for me is first class and I know he has the know how to set this thing up to run like it should. Keep in mind, I have never had a fast boat before this. Rigging and setup is foreign to me! My OB ran mid 60's but how hard is it to make an OB run. With a little setback, they almost all run at a top

Yes if you don't mind Bro!!
Altho you won't get upset if I was to pass you with your prop on my boat would ya :poke: ;).

I have been pushing myself so hard I can not even stand up straight. My trips to and from involve the AC @ 60* and the heated seats on max. I go for my 3rd spinal injection tomorrow @ 8 and I know I will not be able to sit around and do nothing.

Most people give credit to us that rebuild these things. But I give credit to those that buy theirs turn key. For what I got into this I could have bought a nice turn key convincor. And thats not counting labor or friends coming over 3-4x a week to help

But when it is all said and odne, you have such a strong feeling of pride and accomplishment that no one else could have the same boat as you or one that runs as good as it does. I have never liked the idea of paying someone to give me what everyone else could have if they ponied up the same cash. Besides, its more fun to tinker!

I hope that back of yours starts to feel better too, man, you are being rough on it that is for sure. I also have a 27p Mirage plus sitting around....and it doesn't work at all on my boat BTW.

Well had lots of problems at cumberland this weekend. It started with the alt being bad and not charging. Then the P/S belt broke at speed, not fun. Got her pieced back together for the run and set out with Nick running with his 24 SB. got to one of the creeks and came back out on the main lake. Hit some BIG waves off a 40ish footer cabin cruiser trying to get on plane and came down kind of hard. 2 minutes later, smelled burning fiberglass. I shut her down jumped back and lifted the hatch to find the motor broke the front port mount away from the wood. This caused the motor to drop and smack the headers into the engine hatch causing it to get hot and smoke. I got towed to the nearest marina and picked it up from there. On the way home from the lake today, I have come up with a plan on how to fix it for good but the motor will deff have to come out. Just not sure if it will be this year.

Also I think I am taking the sternjack off and going to try it without. I think it is shoving the drive down to far and hurting me. We will see sooner or later this year!!

Brian,

I can sadly relate to so many of your posts of a busted (but fixed for sure this time - yeah right!) boat and a busted back. I had surgery 10 years ago (changed my extreme sports lifestyle) and haven't had another one - though I watch my body try to keep up with what my mind wants to do and it's pretty sad at times.

Was out at Alum Creek (Columbus Ohio) yesterday with my son. He wanted to take a nap so I thought it was a good time to troll for muskies. I caught a nice one (36" - happy), we had dinner - saw a storm approaching - went to start the jet motor to blast back to the dock (8 miles) - it wouldn't start :brickwall:. Watched the clouds building used my kicker trolling motor (5 mph) at wide open throttle to get back to the marina. We waited out 2 storms, (had some ice cream - that was good), started back across the lake with no rain, then was belted with a monsoon. When we launched there were hundreds of boats, when we finally left, we were the last one....

My son says he loves boating when the boat runs . Me too....

Hang in there...I am....:yell:

For all the things I changed I am happy there was only a few problems. The motor mount is going to be a easy fix and I will have it back running in a couple weeks depending on friends schedule for pulling the motor.

I have to say a nice convincor IS in the future for me very soon. I don't want one that needs any type of work.....just fill the tank and go!!
