Tri-mate 2 over haul.

I am also tossing the idea around about adding some 70's racing stripes that run from the bow to the stern, But instead of the normal 2 black lines I will have them done in black checkerboard.
What do you think?

I think it sounds like I want your boat, Gus! Those seats are excellent and yellow is about my favorite boat color. Can't wait to see it.

Diane

Its comming along, very slow but getting there. Just layed down another layer of glass on the pad. Now its time to make it flat and true.
I am so tired of feeling the itch.

WOW!! I didn't catch this thread until now, but that is some project. Early Congrats on your dedication! Will be looking forward to your further updates and the testing phase. No matter what the initial results, I think you can work through any handling issues with seat time and proper setup. The question is: if it gets up on that pad, can you hang on at triple digits??

Checkmark, I don't know if she will run triple digits, but if I can get into the mid 70's I will be happy.
Thanks for the support.

Gus,I've always liked checkered flag graphics on anything. Would you paint them on or use vinyl? With vinyl,if you didn't like em you could just peel em off. GIT-R-DONE

If I go with the checkered stripes they will be in vinyl. It will depend on how the yellow layes out. If it looks like there is too much yellow then I will go with the checkers.
Mid 80's huh Brian. I would have to get another prop and go up about 3 pitch sizes or my lil merc would be spinning to the moon.

Isn't that a 15 footer? I've seen other Check 15's that have hit mid 60's with V4 power. Can't imagine what that will do with 60-80 more HP. I guess triple digits is a bit much; probably more like 80's when you figure 1.5mph per 10 hp. That pad is a big variable though!!

The boat is 16.5' with the engine on a hyd jackplate with no setback it ran 69mph. Now with the 5" of setback and the pad. Not to mention a transom that does not move around. Not sure how fast it will go.

Just have to see what RPM I am turning with the 25p. The motor will rev to 7500, but I don't want to turn it that hard.

No kidding! I keep "checking" this thread out during work. Also one on Scream about the "worst outboards stories". Love this stuff.
I also love the yellow louvers and stacks!! NICE!
