Tri-mate 2 over haul.

Gus when you want to put the next coat on go to the paint store and get the Fish eye remover called Smoothy it makes a great gloss, were the paints the same??? I have run into a problem if the paints are by diff companies

Guss I'm going to send pics of mine tonite late it's done finially now for the test run ( I told Supergenius -Shane that she gps'd at 88 ) boy ha made him get quiet, hope I'm not far off. I had to re-wire the whole boat ( I hate wireing I'd rather do the glass-fabrications )

Spent Monday night sanding off the yellow and the black. Got about 1/2 the boat done. Have to get the other half sanded off. That won't be until at least Monday. To dam hot here right now.
Reed, all the paint stuff is from the same company. I still think it was contamination in the paint can. I should have opened a new can.

Ok just thought I'd ask , if you put that additive in when you shoot the next time it will prevent any fish-eyes from starting even if there is some unseen oil or silicone that you can't see. just tryin to help. I had a set back fired the motor up today and it's ( real throttle responsive ) but the water wasn't circulating when I put the lower unit on some how the rubber gromit in the empeller houseing ripped and half way blocked the water tube off, so I shut it down and pulled it off and found the ripped groment, I was *#%*@ mad at myself for being empatient when I put it together and not put a new water tube in, it had a small bur on it I didn't see. Can you test the tempeture sender in the heads?? I have a new gauge and new wireing and it's not reading???? I'm proud of the engine build it is responcive and shakes the whole boat on the trailer when rapped up to a quick 6,000 rpm

The sanding continues. Just about have all the yellow off. We are back down to primer. I will have to shoot primer again. Ah the joy.
The bad part is I may get it back together to do some testing before winter, but I may have no water to run in.

Well the yello is gone, going to pull the boat out and wash it off. The funny part is there is a pile of dust all the way round the boat and about a 1/4 deep inside. Have I told you guys how much I love body work. NOT.....lol

Thanks for the support guys. Well the boat is washed. Was planning on tapping and covering everything with plastic today but with a temp of 101 the garage is WAY to hot. I have to take the 2 gal. cans of part A and part B primer down and have it shaken. Not going to take a chance this time. New cans of primer and yellow. Going to add some fish-eye-remover just to be safe.

Do you have a water seperator on your compressor or in your air lines? When Iwas painiting the predictor I would shut the compressor off and drain it every day so that water would not build up in. In a few hours I would get an oz. or 2 of water out of the comressor. Probably a bit overkillbut Ididnt want to take any chances.

Adam, I am running duel separators on the comp. and a in-line at the gun. When I am getting ready to paint I open both drains on the separators just a bit. Very little airflow but enough to let the water out if there is any. The compressor is behind a wall of plastic. Going to try and add fish eye remover this time. The primer will be from new un-opened cans, the same goes for the yellow. So glad I bought to much paint and primer. Its going to come in handy. If the weather holds I will be shooting primer tomorrow.:D

3 good coats of primer down and I am sitting here stinking up the house with the smell of fresh paint. Oh yea.

Give it a few days to cure and then its back to sanding. Then a wash, rub down and then spray the black. Wait a few days and then tape it off and shoot the yellow. Hopefully for the last time.

Well after many days of sanding again the job continues. Did the final sanding and wash yesterday. Spent the morning laying plastic in the garage and taping off the boat. ( I should have bought stock in tape and plastic sheet). Mixed up a batch of gloss black and layed down the first coat. So far so good. I added fish eye remover this time. I don't want to have to do this again. Only 4 more coats to go. Then wait a week and tape off the black and shoot the yellow. I will get some pictures of the black later today.

5 coats of black layed down. Now to wait a week for the paint to cure and then tape it off. Then the yellow gets a turn (again). Can't wait for fun stuff like RIGGING.
