Yep, that is me! Usually running with a White/Blue/Red Baja and a White/Blue Glastron.

I will keep an eye out for you this weekend. Right now I am a 50/50 chance for Portland on Saturday, although my friends may want to head south.

Hope to see you out there!

I was on the CT Saturday.:bigthumb:

Don't recall seeing you, but I got a late start due to a rough day on my Brother's Baja the day before! :o

Quite a few locals on this site, almost everyone that I meet with a Checkmate in CT knows of this web site. Pretty cool!

Were you on the east side of Gildersleeve Island? I did 2 passes from weathersfield cove to Gildersleeve.Fished a few spots got one bass.Seems pretty shallow around the Island.

Nope, south of Portland last weekend. :thumb:

The weatherman was calling for a decent Saturday and a rainy Sunday so we got out there early today. Launched in East hartford and headed south with a new toy on board. We got a new inflatable three person banana to pull my girlfriends kids around on so we went down to Dart Island, our favorite spot to swim and hang out. Got the Banana inflated and tied behind the boat, made a couple of loops and they loved it. We came back in to pick up another bunch of kids. We headed back out and they all started yelling. The thing split wide open and was sinking with three kids on board. So much for the banana, oh well. We did finally meet up with board member Hotdaddy, a nice guy with a beautiful boat! Another fun day of boating, sure beats work!!

It was nice meeting you as well "GTX". Good luck with your banana, lol.:rof:

Anyone heard of a rock ledge near the north side of gildersleeve island?

Never heard of the ledge, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. You didn't find it the hard way did you?

No I had 2 people tell me about. They both said they hit it.So should pass behind the island. I did hit something earlier this year when the river was high and trees were floating.Blew out my prop.Must of been a tree.

Stay to the east side of the island and you will be fine, as long as you stay in the channel, pretty much right down the middle after you pass the northern tip of the island. Oil barges make it through there (used to anyway, haven't seen them this year). The west side is unmarked territory and has some sandbars so I wouldn't recomend that route. I have been boating out there for years and hit my first submerged clunker yesterday. I was in the channel north of Rocky Hill and heard a light thump under the bow than a louder one as it hit the outdrive. No damage luckily, musta been a small one.

GTX

Last Saturday,I spent most of the day at Dart Island talking with 502 GTX and other boaters, then headed up to Gildersleeve Island till about 7 pm!!! It has come to my attention that the Connecticut River has a abundance of Checkmates this year verifying what great boats they are!!!! I took on a couple of those new blown 4 stroke jet ski's and got the stock one after running him down but the modified was doing 80,which is a bit too fast for my big Checkmate!!! It was a total washout Sunday so was happy to get in a long day Saturday and hope to run into a few of You this weekend!!!

Didn't make it out last Saturday Franz, but I am making plans for this weekend.

Hope to see/hear() you out there!

HD

Yup, We had a good time hanging out with Franz, turns out he knows a good friend of mine. There were indeed a ton of Checkmates on the river Saturday, sorry you missed it HD. Gonna try to get out there this weekend but work is piling up again and my Gfs son has his first football game of the year Saturday, so my crew will be MIA. May get out on Sunday if I get enough done Saturday.

Labor Day Weekend

Well fellow Checkmaters,it seems we are getting near the end of another great boating season here on the Connecticut River and hope to see all of you out here on the Labor Day weekend,to meet up with for some conversation or maybe take a cruise together!!! I am planning to go all 3 days weather permitting and hope to run into anyone else going out!!!

The river is very high, brown water and debree,

I think I am heading out to the Sound to avoid all the debris. The river doesn't look too inviting unless things change drastically by Saturday.

Be safe if you do head out. I saw the News last night and the parking lot for Portland Boat Works was under water!

I'm a landlubber again this weekend. The river is high and full of junk and Vermont hasn't even crested yet. My friend saw part of someones deck and a 100 gallon propane tank going by and he says they were moving! I didn't even get out til mid July and it looks like at will be a couple more weeks before time will allow me to try it again. Four times out this year, makes for a short season.

Man, Irene made a mess. Many of us still do not have power and the inland waterways still apear to be a mess. I was going to head for the salt in hope of clean water, but with all the confusion and clean-up I am going to stay local.

I am planning on checking out a few lakes tomorrow to find a party spot for the holiday weekend. Unfortunately, the CT River is a no go.

Hopefully I will see you guys on the CT in late Sept. or Oct....if not I will see you for boating 2012. :thumb:

Thanks.
