If you guys decide on Grider is anyone this year making reservations for a block?? or should we just call and reserve it ourselves. Jeez I cant wait to get this show on the road and its still six months out
I bet you can get Wrenchman to show up with his hot rod around St. LouisLol easy there... We got a lotta boating before then... Including a mo/il get together
Yeah I got the Nitro out yest. since it was 65 degrees out and I had a itch but we will have to def. plan a get together this year again. Back on subject though I am staying at Grider most likely also since the people coming with will prolly want a room otherwise Id prolly just anchor somewhere closeLol easy there... We got a lotta boating before then... Including a mo/il get together
Thanks Brian and Dave for putting this together once again!FRIDAY
Casual social event. Meet and great event so to say.
SATURDAY
We are planning on starting from Grider Hill marina.
For those who want to party, 76 falls will be open and should be pumping.... just go back and tie up!
For those of us who want to run, we are running to Burnside then back to Conley Bottom for lunch. We figure this will take about 2.5 hrs depending on speed
After lunch, we will head back to 76 falls and join the others for the raft up/social event!
Dinner time we will head to Grider Hill for "Stager Lee" playing that night.
Any parties interested can join in our run at any point. You can stay at any camp site or any marina that you want. The run will maintain a safe pace so as not to loose slower boats. Don't worry about running with big boats if you have a small boat. We did this last year and worked great for everyone that ran. We all got to do some racing and yet no one was left behind.

FOOD
Grider Hill~ has a buffet and is good food!
State Dock~ has a great view of the lake, buffet, but you have to wait on a shuttle van and most $$
Jamestown~ has a buffet, good food, least expensive buffet. If at grider, you'll spend more in fuel to get there than you save!!
Conley Bottom~ no buffet.
Lee's Ford~ no idea... been 20+ years since I was there last!
Burnside~ Not sure what they do and do not have
DRINKS
Somerset is a wet county now so you can buy what you want there. I'd bring your own drinks and use that as a back up plan when you run out
I am trying to keep this a "Family Event" but remember there will be drinking at 76 falls. Anyone is welcome to bring their families, friends, and even non checkmate owners are welcome....... If you want to show up, get stupid drunk and start a fight, go else where. That kind of actions will not be tolerated. We are all there to have a good time and a good time will be had
As for "planning ahead" questions, I'd get your spot reserved asap. This will be a real change as the water will rise from the 680' level its been at to 705'. This will open up 76 falls which has been the main hot spot before the water was dropped for damn repairs. I have not heard yet as to when they will go back up to normal 720' level.
We have a huge response so far and this is looking to become the biggest event to date. Lots of interest from people here and also have quite a few non members already confirmed as going!
Any questions, email me at yellowfiero88@aol.com, or PM Dave (RNGRDVE)
Thanks,
Brian
Sounds like your getting everything in order. Too bad you can't bring that senator along with you.
anyone a CM senator for sale? lol
that's too bad yeah. but i will make it up with the senator. he is gonna swim in the cleanest ice water i'v ever seen in italy a week later..
dave i will mail you the dates times of the flights etc on saturday. keep you informed.
i have to be there on Thursday? Cincinnati airport. i try the same time as john. i know his ETA time.
Usually hang out around the damn. From there it goes back to the dock.Where is the Friday night social event taking place? Out on the water?
Mud flaps do a good job. Another option if you are worried is go to a new car lot and get some of the white protective self adhesive plastic that the factory uses for shipping. You ask them and I'd say they would give you some used stuff for free. The roads in KY are pretty good for being clean of gravel.SorryJust out of curiosity, how do you guys protect your hulls on a long trip? Or just hook up and go? This would be a little ways for me, just wondering. Thanks
